Transporting Kadapa MP and YSR Congress President Y S Jaganmohan Reddy from Chenchalguda prison to the Special CBI court at Nampally in a mini-Bus considering his Z-Security status raises more eyebrows as to their covert motives. Nothing can be ruled out in Indian politics.
Is it a deliberate conspiracy to get Jagan killed so that both the Congress High Command can be freed from future challenges? How can one explain such a lackadaisical approach to ‘Jagan’s” security? Should any untoward incident unfortunately happen while Jagan is in transit, will the CBI be held directly responsible and accountable for allowing such a perfidy to take place?
Fortunately, the Court was quick to take cognizance of Jagan’s complaint and direct the concerned authorities – state government, state police chief as well the Prison chief – to provide fool-proof security cover to Jagan. Kiran Kumar Reddy’s government should be held responsible and accountable for any untoward incident whilst in Jagan is in custody. None can rule out the possibility of outbreak of ‘bedlam’ in the State.
Speculations are also rife that there is a bigger conspiracy being hatched by his political opponents both in the Congress hierarchy and the TDP. In particular, when the investigating agency has failed to extract any concrete evidence to prove him guilty in the alleged disproportionate case, even after nine months of investigations.
The CBI has appealed to the court to permit “Narco-analysis” test on Jagan as they failed to nail him in the DA case documentarily or through extracting convincing evidence from other co-accused even after offering 'approver status' to some of them.
It is quite possible that the conspirators have pre-planned to lay the blame for a strike against Jagan as fallout of past faction feuds of the region? One cannot rule out such a possibility since Jagan’s name had been deliberately being dragged in the killing of former Penukonda legislator and known criminal, Paritala Ravi.
The TDP legislator was brutally killed in bomb attack by his rivals in Anantapur. But, soon after his death, the widow of slain leader accused Y S Jagan as one of the chief conspirator. The TDP President even went to the extent of dragging a high-profile IPS officer’s name as co-accused in the brutal killing of Ravi, unabashedly forgetting that he ruled the state for nine years.
In reality in Parital’s case, it was the TDP President who forced his legislator to travel to his native place to hold the party district-level meeting, in spite of clear cut guidelines from the state police not to visit his home district without proper escort.
Yet, then Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy immediately ordered for CBI inquiry and what has happened later is now public knowledge. The police arrested the prime accused involved in killing Ravi and prosecution begun against them.
In that backdrop, the Chenchalguda prison or the state government’s decision to take Jagan from prison to the Nampally CBI court in such condemned bus raises many doubts and help gain currency of the said ‘conspiracy theory’.
It is now clear that the Congress and opposition TDP seem resigned to their fate as far as by-elections to 18 assembly constituencies and lone Nellore Lok Sabha constituency, are concerned. They are schedule for June 12. Both these parties were well aware of the defeat menacingly staring at them.
Similarly, the CBI, which had taken up the DA case against Jagan on directions from the state High Court more than 10 months back failed to make any major breakthrough. It might have filed three sets of charge-sheets naming as many as 72 as accused in the case, and arresting three IAS officers, besides others. It might have as well succeeded another couple of day’s custody after questioning Jagan in the same case from the CBI court. Yet, there efforts proved futile.
If one has to give credence to news reports appearing in a section of the media, the CBI now wants to turn the heat on Vijay Sai Reddy, family auditor of YSR family, to confess. The same media reports also suggest that Jagan is giving stock replies to CBI sleuths during their so called ‘grilling.’ If the stock reply to CBI questions on how he managed to get the GOs issued, Jagan’s straight reply is “better ask the Ministers’. And to another question regarding investments, his reply akin to be the same: “Better ask investors.’
In retrospect, the onus indeed lies (or rests) on the state government which issued those 26 controversial GOs, allegedly benefitting as many corporate giants of huge chunk of government and private lands. Similarly, it is the responsibility of the investors, who had invested in Jagan’s publication, to explain what prompted them to do so and the source of funds.
The government had allocated land and in turn the Corporate allegedly ‘reciprocated’ by investing huge sums in Jagan’s publication as part of quid pro quo. Fine, the only thing either the Enforcement Directorate or the Income Tax department or the probing CBI agency should find out whether the investments have come in proper way.
These institutions have every right to investigate and find out if the investments have come in so called ‘hawala’ or any other illegal route and who is responsible for that.
Even before doing that, the way Jagan was arrested, that too on the eve of elections to 18 assembly constituencies and one Lok Sabha constituency is what raised many doubts among the ‘aam admi’. A man on the street is now firmly believes that it is a bigger conspiracy being hatched to eliminate Jagan physically by the ruling Congress as well the main Opposition Telugu Desam parties as they have realized that their future remains bleak in state politics.
After all, mankind’s history is replete with political assassinations for the sake of the “Throne”.
So, 'wake up electorate in 18 assembly and lone Nellore Lok Sabha constituency' and give a fitting reply to those conspirators with your constitutionally given 'weapon' - that's vote! |
