Knowing full well that the Jagan’s YSR Congress party’s nominee all set to win in all the 17 of the 18 assembly constituencies, the Nationalist Congress led by Sonia Gandhi hatched the ‘conspiracy’ to let ‘sympathy-wave’ in favor of Jagan further ‘dilute’ the T-sentiment in the lone Parakal constituency in Telangana and score a point or two.
Otherwise, it was going tough for the YSRC nominee Konda Surekha, who though is a strong votary of T-statehood. Had Jagan not been arrested, the chances of either the TRS or BJP nominees victory was almost certain, may be with slender margin. Even a confident Surekha was praying for some miracle to happen for her smooth sail.
Till yesterday, she was fighting her own battle on home turf as Jagan was scary and weary of campaigning for her and had plans to send her mother. Now his (Jagan) arrest made things made much easier for Konda Surekha, to sail through with ‘sympathy’ vote backing. By and large, the people in India are more sympathetic in expressing their solidarity to ‘sufferer’ than to the ‘punisher’, let whatever may be the reasons.
This has happened in the past in elections all over the country and it bound to happen even in Parakal.
What is more irony is that the main Opposition TDP which had been accusing the TRS of conniving with the YSRC till yesterday, seems to have played into the hands of Congress. Now it is clear that the Cong-TDP which are opposed to bifurcation of the state determined to go to any extend to dilute it further. And, the Jagan’s arrest forms part of the Cong-TDP against T-statehood.
And, the gainer is YSRC and clearly the loser TRS as the entire opposition who vouch for stone-walling bifurcation of the state more than happy with the latest political developments. Even a section of the media form part of conspirators who opposed to the separate T-statehood as their business empires shackled.
Will people of the region wake up at least now and see the conspiracy boomerang on the Congress and TDP in coming polls?
