Vijayamma to lead YSRC poll campaign, if Jagan is arrested

Guntur: YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy said that he would give the charge of the party’s byelection campaign to his mother Y S Vijayamma should he be arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Ahead of his date with the CBI for interrogation in the illegal assets case, the MP went about his usual canvassing activities in Macherla constituency in Guntur district on Thursday before driving to the state capital by road in the evening.

Aware of the long trip ahead, he instructed his campaign managers to call it a day at 7.30 pm. His day on the campaign trail thus ended at Chintapalli village in Karampudi mandal.

Speaking to the national media at this village before departure, the MP alleged that the TDP is conspiring to create a law and order problem in the state on Friday so that the blame would go to him.

Among the leaders who met Jagan Thursday was his uncle, Y S Vivekananda Reddy, fresh from his farewell to the Congress. The duo met up at Nalamalapadu village in Karampudi mandal and were closeted for more than an hour.

Although YSRC leaders affected nonchalance in front of the TV cameras, party sources said many parleys have taken place behind the scenes on dealing with the CBI investigations that have heated up ahead of the crucial byelections. Several investors who are being investigated by the CBI have sent emissaries to the Jagan camp on the stump to discuss the approach to be taken.
