Shah Rukh ashamed of Wankhede brawl

Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan says he is ashamed of his behaviour at the Wankhede Stadium after an Indian Premier League (IPL) match earlier this month and feels he is not at all a role model.

"I abused but I had a reason for it...how much angry or disturbed you are, you cannot subject it to your audience or children...I don't think I am a role model...," Shah Rukh told reporters Wednesday when he was asked about the run-in at Wankhede with the security staff and Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials May 16.

"Saal ke andar ek jhagda aur do films kaafi hai (within a year a brawl and two films is enough)...I was very ashamed when my wife and children explained to me that I shouldn't have behaved in that way...I realised, mere bache itne bade ho gaye hain ki muje samjha rahe hain (my children have grown so much that they are advising me), I was ashamed," he added.

Shah Rukh was addressing a press conference at his Mannat residence here on the Kolkata Knight Riders winning the fifth edition of the IPL Sunday against Chennai Super Kings. He co-owns the team with actress Juhi Chawla and her businessman husband Jai Mehta.

SRK, known for his romantic screen image and as an affable star off screen, surprised everyone with his behaviour after the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians.

The MCA has banned him from entering the stadium for five years. The superstar had apologised Tuesday forhis behaviour. When asked about this, he said: "I don't want to get into the apology part...I think, I have to be quiet and patient."
