New Delhi: Having led the Kolkata Knight Riders to the IPL title, Gautam Gambhir says he is ready to captain the India Test side.

"It's the biggest honour. I am ready for it, ready for responsibility and challenges. That's where your mental toughness and character will be tested." The
left-hander said he was an insecure cricketer. "I am very insecure as far as my profession is concerned. Since I started playing cricket, I consider every game I play as my last game. Even today, if I don't score runs in two or three game, I start feeling I am going to be dropped," said Gambhir.

Offering security
As a skipper though, he tries to make his players feel secure. "Whatever I have gone through, I try others don't go through it. Whenever I lead a side I always try my players feel secure."

Gambhir admitted, at times, he had crossed the line on the field, but had learnt from his mistakes. "I would show a lot of emotion on the field but have mellowed down with age. I remember that incident with Shane Watson (he had elbowed the Australian) and after that I apologized to everyone. Life is all about learning from mistakes."

Gambhir said the IPL or BCCI had nothing to do with the controversies that erupted off the field. "You can't blame them for everything. No one can control whatever happens outside the field."
