Naidu admits party's failure for poor show in by-polls

Hyderabad: Admitting the failure of Telugu Desam in the by-elections, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said that the party suffered a major defeat despite making sincere efforts in the by-elections.

Talking to media persons at NTR Trust Bhavan, Naidu said that the by-election results would not impact party's spirit and the results have stressed the need for the party to strengthen its rank and file from the ground level.

He said that the TDP lost in the by-elections mainly due to sympathy factor over the arrest of YSR Congress party president Jagan Mohan Reddy by the CBI in connection with alleged disproportionate assets case.

Naidu said that party would convene politburo meeting on Saturday to discuss the reasons for failure and taking steps to boost the morale of party cadre.

He said that the party would intensify its fight against corruption, farmers' problems, increase in prices of essential commodities and power tariff against the government until the government revokes its decision.
